Embracing Different Cultures: A Meaningful Experience
Viktoria from Georgia, Winter Semester 2023/2024
Hello! During my first semester as an exchange student from Georgia at the RheinAhrCampus of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences in Germany, I had the chance to participate in a special event - the "Embracing Cultural Diversity" (ECD) seminar.
This seminar is all about bringing students and teachers from different cultures together. It helps us understand and work with people from various backgrounds. The main goal is to make us more understanding, tolerant, and better at dealing with cultural differences in our daily lives.
Being part of the ECD seminar was a big deal for me. It wasn't just about studying – it was like going on a journey that changed the way I see the world.
The seminar taught me how to solve problems and do my work better. But more than that, it helped me be more understanding and patient when dealing with people from different cultures. These skills aren't just useful in my studies; they've become a big part of how I interact with others every day.
Here are three things I learned:
Understanding Other Cultures: The seminar showed me how to get along with people from different cultures. It helped me see things from their perspective.
Working Together: I learned how to work well with others, even when we're from different backgrounds. This has made me better at handling different situations.
Changing Myself: The seminar made me think differently and act in a way that's more open and accepting of diversity.
As I look forward to my second semester, I plan to use what I learned in the seminar not just in my studies but in my daily life. I want to be part of making our community more inclusive and understanding.
Looking back, the "Embracing Cultural Diversity" seminar was a standout moment in my first semester. The skills and ideas I gained are important to me, and I'm excited to keep learning and growing in the next semester, appreciating diversity every step of the way.
