Fulfilling My Dreams
Eva from Australia, Summer Semester 2024
Hello! My name is Eva Timmermans, I am from Australia, and this is my first semester studying abroad in Germany at the RheinAhrCampus. I have grown so much as a person in the past months since I travelled to Germany. Since undertaking this experience, I have really come out of my shell, stepped outside of my comfort zone, and had some amazing experiences with the most beautiful people along the way. I have been so lucky to have met so many incredible people from all around the globe which I never would have met if it weren’t for Erasmus and RheinAhrCampus. Most of all, I have been able to fulfill my dreams whilst studying abroad.
When I first arrived in Remagen, I instantly fell in love with the serene German town. With the traditional architecture, river and local flora and fauna, this area of Germany feels like I am living in a fairytale! I am fortunate to have been able to call Remagen home even just for a short while.
Since even before I started studying at University, I had a dream to study abroad. RheinAhrCampus made this dream come true and I am very grateful to have been given this incredible, once in a lifetime opportunity. Through my studies abroad, I was also able to tick many dream destinations off my bucket list.
I had the most unforgettable time travelling with my new international and German friends to many places including catching the bus to the Netherlands, a girls’ trip to Luxembourg, a trip with my roommate from Korea to Belgium, visiting my dream city destination, Vienna, and travelling to Sweden to stay with new German friends. The adventures are endless! Not to forget the adventures that took place in Germany and our very own Remagen.
I have very fond memories of Sunday afternoon walks along the Rhine, nights out at the student bar Baracke, after-class volleyball sessions and waiting with friends at the Remagen train station to embark on our next adventure together!
I will miss Remagen but will be back in the future!
