What I liked about Remagen

A decision to take part in the Erasmus program in Germany at RheinAhrCampus was the right step!

Even though I took part in a winter semester, I still had something out of summer. I remember those heat waves at the end of September, those days were really beautiful. That was the time when I met other students for the first time. We took part in Remagen Wine Festival and we saw the ceremony of a coronation of a new wine queen. That was a beautiful event and I tried a few tasty wine. We took a special Remagen Wine Festival glass as a souvenir and believe it or not, I really liked it. In fact you can also collect lots of glasses from Christmas Markets. Trust me, it is worth it. I took only two glasses (from Cologne and Aachen Christmas Markets) but if I had more chance, I would take one from every single Christmas Market I visited.

Let me come back to Remagen. This is a small city, with around seventeen thousand citizens, so if you expect a metropolis, it is not a place for you. However, with a student card, you can travel for free by regional trains to Cologne, Bonn and Koblenz. This is a big advantage so it is desirable to choose your future accommodation in a dormitory or somewhere close to the train station. On the other hand, if you are a quiet person and you want to have a few months of rest from big cities, this is a perfect place for you.

One more things which make this place attractive is a university. Because there are not too many students, you have the opportunity to get to know them closer. Teachers are always there to help you and, in general, people are very kind and helpful. Every time I had questions, they answered them quickly and earnestly.

To conclude, I met a lot of interesting people. I took part in different courses, weekend seminars, and full-semester courses. All of these were interesting, however, the idea of weekend seminars I liked the most as they leave more opportunities for you to travel. In my case, I had three or four weekend seminars/workshops in the first weeks of my exchange semester so in December I had a lot of time to travel.

I would recommend studying at RheinAhrCampus, it is a very friendly place and you can benefit from a semester here. I already miss my people from the exchange.
