Unforgettable Experience

I am Elene, 21-year-old, from Georgia. Here in Remagen, I am an international student in RheinAhrCampus. I think everyone has a favorite country which they admire. For me that country is Germany. It was always my dream to live and study here. In Georgia, the competition to participate in an exchange program is very high. There are more than 250 students who are competing with each other to spend one semester abroad. When I applied for Koblenz University it was even hard because it is the second Erasmus for me. But here am I. The first thing that astonished me is a different educational system. I was always wondering how much impact the teaching style of the lecturer can have on improving my skills. I have never experienced being in front presenting different topics such an extent when I have experienced during studying in RAC. I would like to point out the class international business simulation. This class was not usual. In this class, we created the simulated company and I, as a CEO, was leading the meetings and managing students in four different departments. The chance of being the CEO in the Business Simulations class opened me a lot of opportunities. I learned how to delegate, how to communicate with employees, encourage them to do their best, give them necessary feedback. Another class, which makes me see the world from different angles and perspectives is intercultural communication. In this class, we were talking about the differences between cultures. For me, it was intensive studying, because I was experiencing at the same time working with different cultures in the small team such as Sprachen/Internationales. Now I clearly see the value of different cultures. The important factor that made me choose RheinAhrCampus is the opportunity of working and studying at the same time. In the first meeting, during the orientation week, we have been told that if we want to we can have a lot of challenges. I decided to be involved in as many projects as possible. That is how I became the managing of the Facebook page for Sprachen/Internationales, Wall of Fame, Blog of incoming students, Experience Reports of outgoing students, event organizer. Now I can make important decisions on my own, I developed adaptability, I am more confident and convinced of my abilities, and I know better my strengths and weaknesses. The most important thing that made my Erasmus unforgettable are my friends. I made a lot of international and local friends. We traveled and became part of a lot of events such as Christopher Street Days, the Rhine in Flamen Event, Kölner Lichter, Cherry Blossom and many more. We shared a lot of experiences and now I am more aware of the different cultures. Now with all these experience - living on my own gave me an opportunity to concentrate on myself, enhance my future employability, I am more able to adapt to and act in new situations, I am more open-minded and curious about new challenges, I have a clearer idea about my professional career aspirations and goals, I am more capable of taking over work tasks with high responsibility.

This experience I will stay inside my heart for a long time.
