The Journey of the ''new''
Vitor from Brazil, Summer Semester 2019
Hello, my name is Vitor, I am from Campina Grande - Brazil, and I spent a semester studying in RheinAhrCampus in Remagen. My stay in Germany has given me the opportunity of living unique moments that were not possible to live in Brazil before. Before this program, I had never left my country, my English was very limited, and I had almost no intercultural experiences. To study abroad and have an exchange experience was a distant dream to me until the opportunity of study in RheinAhrCampus came. The whole process was very constructive and very learning. I had the opportunity to attend classes with teachers from the USA, Azerbaijan, Germany, and so I learned new things through different points of view, different teaching methods that I had to adapt myself to, and I learned a lot about other cultures. However, I believe that one of the points that I developed the most was my English skills, because today I can communicate well even with Guest Lectures that are native speakers, and before coming to Germany, that’s was not possible. I was also able to make an Internship offered by the university, which gave me many unique challenges and experiences. In the Internship, I was able to become a better professional person and through that, I can now prepare myself for what the real business environment will be like. There I could develop my communication skills, to be more punctual, strict with deadlines and a lot more. This experience has made me also make great friends from various places in the world, as well as several German friends. I had the opportunity to travel to tourist places and countries like France and the Netherlands and I have experienced the Southside Festival, where I have lived unique experiences that I will not forget. The experience of having stayed for a semester at the Hochschule Koblenz RheinAhrCampus university was something that changed my life in several positive ways, also have the opportunity of live in an intercultural environment and have a lot of conversations about several different topics, had open my mind to understand the world beyond what I was used to. I recommend it to everyone interested in having an intercultural experience in RheinAhrCampus as well.
It is not a semester in life; it is a life in a semester.
