A Magical Year!
Mariane from Portugal, Summer Semester 2019
Hi, my name is Mariane Castro, I'm from Brazil, but I'm studying Master's Degree in Law at the University of Lisbon. This is my second semester as a student at RheinAhrCampus and an intern at Sprachen/Internationales. Regarding the internship, I can say that it was a year of intense learning, especially of a job that required skills that I didn't even know I had. I was involved in the production of five podcasts, one video project, two international trips and two international projects promoted by the university. In one year living in Germany, I had the opportunity to meet people from the five continents, travel around Europe, take classes on subjects that I would never have access to at my home university and expose myself to different realities, which I never imagined before living in Germany. On the other hand, I cannot forget that living in Germany in recent times has led me to recognize the reality of the refugee crisis and the need to fight for social justice and tolerance. Living and working with Germans, I learned how to be more objective, punctual and disciplined. Nowadays, I have a certain pleasure in planning my schedules and I can say that I have a more attentive look to keep only the essential, less is more, always. Despite the difficulties of maintaining a journey of study, work and scientific research, I can say that I only have one regret, that I did not have the opportunity to begin this internship before. I can confidently say that this opportunity of internship and study at RAC reinvented me as a human being, today I have new dreams and I intend to be someone with a different impact on other people's lives.
