Koblenz University of Applied Sciences strives to make its websites and mobile applications accessible without barriers. The legal basis is the State Law on Equality, Inclusion and Participation of People with Disabilities (Landesgesetz zur Gleichstellung, Inklusion und Teilhabe von Menschen mit Behinderung, Landesinklusionsgesetz) and the Barrier-Free Information Technology Ordinance of Rhineland-Palatinate (Barrierefreie-Informationstechnik-Verordnung Rheinland-Pfalz, “BITV-RP”). • Some alternative texts for images or graphical elements or controls are missing.
• There may be errors in the heading hierarchy.

• Only a few audio transcriptions or subtitles are available for videos and audios.
• For some tables, the description as well as the assignment of table cells is missing.
• There are some form fields without a unique label.
• Words and sections in other languages are only partially labelled.
• An explanation of essential website content, notes on navigation, and essential content of the Accessibility Statement in German Sign Language and Plain Language are still missing.

Reasons for Not Barrier-free Content

The website of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences is very extensive and complex, and it was published before September 23, 2018. The individual website sections are managed in a decentralized manner by many different, sometimes rapidly changing editors. Briefing and training these editors is a lengthy and ongoing process. The website of Koblenz University of Applied Sciences is continuously being developed. Existing barriers are being removed in this process. Updating the functionality is largely associated with high costs and thus represents a disproportionate burden.

• Videos and audios published before September 23, 2020.
